NEWYORK: American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee APPAC organized Pakistani Heritage Night in New York to recognize the services of police officers, civil servants, and community leaders.<\/p>\n

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by Naat in honor of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).<\/p>\n

Prominent figures from the Pakistani American community, including APPAC Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, organizational leadership, and various sectors attended the event.<\/p>\n

Heritage Night Chief Organizer Mirza Khawar Baig described Adeel Rana, the first Pakistani-American inspector in the New York Police Department, and recently promoted Inspector Jahangir Ashraf, as a source of pride for the community and a role model for the youth.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hadi explained the aims and objectives of the establishment of APPAC and informed the audience that under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, the entire organization is working towards the participation and promotion of Pakistani Americans in local politics.<\/p>\n

The services of the first Pakistani-American Inspector Adeel Rana, five deputy inspectors and four captains who participated in the ceremony were also appreciated.<\/p>\n

Addressing the participants, Inspector Adeel Rana and special guest Inspector Jahangir Ashraf said that the youth of the Pakistani community should try to join civil services, public safety, local politics and police.<\/p>\n

President of the Muslim Officers Society, Deputy Inspector Waheed Akhtar praised the community services of APPAC Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed.<\/p>\n

He said that Dr. Ijaz saw many ups and downs in his life, but continued to struggle with hard work and dedication and achieved a unique position.<\/p>\n

Addressing the participants of Heritage Night, Chair of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee of New York Ali Najmi said that Pakistani Americans are very capable and expressed hope that more judges from the Pakistani community will be included in the city’s judicial system.<\/p>\n

APPAC Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, President Dr. Pervez Iqbal and Chief Organizer Khawar Baig conferred awards to officers of Pakistani origin posted in the New York Police Department, Civil Services and other departments.<\/p>\n

The services of Chief Bio-Preparation Officer in the Health Department of the city government Dr. Saira Madad, Chief Information Officer Rizwan Mirza, Division Chief Farooq Mohammad in the FDNY and others were appreciated at Heritage Night.<\/p>\n

APPAC Board Member Asad Chaudhry and other speakers said that they will continue to work to move the community forward.<\/p>\n

Later, Khawar Baig invited the participants to participate in the Pakistan Day Parade to be held on August 23. On this occasion, renowned singer Shiraz Opal performed on stage with his magical voice which was enjoyed by the audience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
