NEWYORK: American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee Foundation and Pakistan Education Endowment Fund have signed a memorandum of understanding to provide access to modern nursing, medical education and job opportunities in the United States. Work will soon begin on the US visa and interview stage for trained nurses.<\/strong><\/p>\n

President of APPAC Foundation, a subsidiary of the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee, Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, and CEO of Pakistan Education Endowment Fund Syeda Hajra Sohail have signed a memorandum of understanding to meet the growing demand for trained nurses in the US and access to job opportunities in the medical field.<\/p>\n

Speaking a press briefing held at the APPAC Foundation office in New York, Dr. Ijaz Ahmed said that his organization is working to provide all possible assistance to nurses trained in Pakistan in preparing for world-class exams, preparing for licenses and getting jobs in American hospitals. In this regard, he will also visit Pakistan soon.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by the special representative of the Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly, Philip Ramos, with whose support the foundation of this project was laid, and Pakistani Consul General Amir Ahmed Atuzai.<\/p>\n

APPAC President Dr. Pervez Iqbal said that Pakistan should take full advantage of the potential of thousands of nurses in the $4.5 trillion American healthcare industry. He said that successful nurses will also get a green card along with employment in the United States.<\/p>\n

Consul General Amir Ahmed Atuzai appreciated the efforts of APPAC, saying that employment of qualified and trained nurses from Pakistan in the US will help further improve relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Under the National Council Licensure Examination Program of Pak EEF, more than 80 out of 300 Pakistani nurses have obtained international licenses and are now eligible to serve abroad.<\/p>\n

CEO of Pakistan Education Endowment Fund Syeda Hajra Sohail said that efforts are being made to work on the process of interviews and visa issuance of trained nurses in the next phase.<\/p>\n

APPAC board member Asad Chaudhry and other members welcomed the agreement in a video link address. The speakers said that this agreement will further facilitate the migration and employment of Pakistani medical personnel in the United States by establishing direct partnerships with American hospitals, nursing institutions and educational centers.<\/p>\n

Later, the guests from Pakistan who came for the agreement presented the leadership of the APPAC Foundation with Ajrak, a symbol of Sindhi culture, and shields.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
