{"id":40314,"date":"2026-05-04T15:18:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T15:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/?p=40314"},"modified":"2026-05-04T15:18:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T15:18:54","slug":"comptroller-levine-reports-over-1-million-in-recovered-back-wages-in-first-four-months-of-term","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/40314","title":{"rendered":"Comptroller Levine reports over $1 million in recovered back wages in first four months of term"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEWYORK: New York City Comptroller Mark Levine announced the Bureau of Labor Law (BLL) has\u00a0settled five cases, recovering over $1 million for\u00a0workers\u00a0to\u00a0whom companies owe\u00a0back wages and interest, as well as civil penalties for the City of New York, since his term began in January.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among the cases settled in Comptroller Levine\u2019s first four months include a joint investigation between his office and the New York City Parks Department for underpayment of prevailing wages and supplemental benefits to 24\u00a0workers working on the Hunts Point Playground reconstruction\u00a0in the Bronx.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the joint investigation, Amin Electrical Corp., Green Builders Group of NY Corp., and their prime contractor, D &amp; S Restoration, settled for a total of $618,495.40 and the subcontractors were subsequently debarred for willfully violating\u00a0prevailing wage laws and falsifying payroll records.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt a time when the federal government is rolling back labor protections, the work of our Bureau of Labor Law\u00a0is that much more important,\u201d said\u00a0Comptroller Mark Levine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSettling over $1 million on prevailing wage cases in just four months is no small feat and sends a strong message that the Comptroller\u2019s Office remains steadfast in our commitment to fighting on workers\u2019\u00a0behalf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCreating and improving park spaces is essential to the wellbeing of New Yorkers, and it\u2019s also imperative that contractors follow the law when working on these projects,\u201d said\u00a0NYC Parks Commissioner Tricia Shimamura.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were proud to collaborate with the Comptroller\u2019s office on this investigation and grateful that hardworking New Yorkers will be getting the proper wages they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLocal enforcement of labor\u00a0protections\u00a0is more critical than ever, and I am extremely proud of our\u00a0team and their efforts\u00a0to\u00a0recover\u00a0every dollar owed to workers,\u201d said\u00a0Claudia Henriquez, Director of Workers\u2019 Rights at the Comptroller\u2019s Bureau of Labor Law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dEach milestone we hit is the culmination of a lot of hard work that ultimately begins with the bravery of workers\u00a0standing up for their rights.
