By bringing these free fan events to every borough,\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0making sure everyone can be part of that joy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew Yorkers are ready to welcome fans from across the world for the 2026 World Cup and we\u2019re making sure everyone who calls this city home is part of this historic event,\u201d said\u00a0Governor Hochul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese free fan events across all five boroughs bring the excitement of the game to every New Yorker in every community \u2014 supporting our small businesses and bringing New Yorkers together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe World Cup is an opportunity to celebrate all of the diverse cultures and people that call New York City home,\u201d said\u00a0Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the past, host cities have been criticized for\u00a0failing to ensure\u00a0their own workers and residents benefit and get to\u00a0participate\u00a0in the opportunities this global game presents. Excited that our very own Brooklyn Bridge Park will be a fan zone bringing people together to cheer, celebrate, and experience the joy of the most beautiful game,\u201d said\u00a0Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the Mayor\u2019s announcement of fan zones across all five boroughs, more New Yorkers will be able to celebrate the World Cup in their own neighborhoods. These sites, including Rockefeller Center in my district, help ensure this global event supports local businesses, encourages economic activity beyond the stadium, and gives fans more ways to be part of the energy across New York City,\u201d said\u00a0Councilmember Virginia Maloney.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York City\u2019s hosting of the World Cup should be an experience for all of us to enjoy. The Mamdani administration\u2019s smart\u00a0selection\u00a0of Emily Roebling Plaza in Brooklyn Bridge Park as a World Cup fan zone will be a great spot for epic matches and the best view in New York City,\u201d said\u00a0Councilmember Lincoln\u00a0Restler.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fan zone at Bronx Terminal Market brings the electric atmosphere of the World Cup directly to our community, creating an open space where everyone can come together to enjoy the games.
