{"id":40254,"date":"2026-04-24T18:36:27","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T18:36:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/?p=40254"},"modified":"2026-04-24T18:36:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T18:36:27","slug":"mayor-mamdani-nyc-children-open-seven-formerly-vacant-early-childhood-education-centers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/40254","title":{"rendered":"Mayor Mamdani, NYC children open seven formerly vacant early childhood education centers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEWYORK: Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani, Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels and New York City children cut through &#8220;red tape&#8221; at a formerly vacant early child childhood education center in Downtown Brooklyn, marking its official opening ahead of the fall term. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Atlantic Avenue center is one of seven previously vacant sites that will open this fall, creating about 240 new 3-K seats citywide.<\/p>\n<p>The openings follow last week&#8217;s announcement that the city would activate long-unused facilities to meet persistent demand for early childhood education.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Mayor\u00a0also announced today the City will add\u00a0roughly 450\u00a03-K seats at community-based organizations this fall, the first phase of a broader expansion aimed at making 3-K truly universal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No family should have to cross borough lines for\u00a0child care\u00a0when the space exists right on their block,&#8221; said\u00a0Mayor Mamdani.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For years, these classrooms sat empty while parents were told to wait.
