NEWYORK: Islamic Relief USA has announced a $128,000 grant to seven shopkeepers who were among the affectees of a horrific fire on Coney Island Avenue, New York.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A tragic incident of fire had occurred on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn, just a day before Eid al-Fitr, in which seven shops, including a Pakistani restaurant, were reduced to ashes.<\/p>\n

Three weeks after the incident, Islamic Relief USA held a press conference with Small Business Services Commissioner Kenny Minaya and announced that $128,000 would be paid to the affectees in aid, with each affected shopkeeper receiving $18,000 from this grant.<\/p>\n

Council member Rita Joseph, head of the social organization Council of People\u2019s Organization COPO Mohammad Rizvi and representatives of the city government were also present at the press conference.<\/p>\n

They said that everyone was preparing for Eid when this accident happened suddenly, but they are also happy that everyone stayed together in this difficult time and supported the victims.<\/p>\n

Pakistani restaurant owner Owais Butt and other affected shopkeepers expressed their gratitude to Islamic Relief USA and Small Business Services for providing help in restarting their businesses.<\/p>\n
