{"id":39488,"date":"2026-01-31T15:16:51","date_gmt":"2026-01-31T15:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/?p=39488"},"modified":"2026-01-31T15:16:51","modified_gmt":"2026-01-31T15:16:51","slug":"mayor-mamdani-announces-more-than-50000-3-k-and-pre-k-applications-submitted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/39488","title":{"rendered":"Mayor Mamdani announces more than 50,000 3-K and Pre-K applications submitted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEWYORK: Mayor Zohran Mamdani\u00a0announced\u00a0that more than\u00a050,000 families have applied for 3-K and Pre-K since applications opened on Jan.\u00a014, 2026.\u00a0The announcement came during a visit to a home-based\u00a0child care\u00a0provider in Manhattan\u2019s Chinatown.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Home-based\u00a0child care\u00a0providers\u00a0are eligible 3-K providers\u00a0and\u00a0offer\u00a0culturally and linguistically responsive care for families\u00a0across the city.\u00a0The\u00a0visit\u00a0marked\u00a0one of the first times\u00a0in recent years that\u00a0a sitting\u00a0mayor has visited a\u00a0home-based\u00a0child care\u00a0provider,\u00a0underscoring\u00a0the Mamdani administration\u2019s commitment to supporting community-based and home-based\u00a0child care\u00a0providers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery child deserves access to free, high quality childcare \u2013 and we\u2019re making sure families across the city know\u00a0that\u00a0now is the\u00a0time to enroll in 3-k and pre-K,\u201d said\u00a0Mayor Mamdani.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past few weeks,\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0left no stone unturned\u00a0in getting\u00a0the word out,\u00a0and the\u00a0strong response\u00a0so far shows that families are ready.\u00a0Applications are still open\u00a0through\u00a0Feb. 27, and we encourage every eligible family to apply.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese numbers show what we already know \u2013 New York City families understand the power of early childhood education,\u201d said\u00a0Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHigh-quality 3-K and Pre-K programs give our youngest New Yorkers a strong foundation for learning while supporting working families across the city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Applications\u00a0remain\u00a0open through Feb.\u00a027, 2026. All families with eligible children are encouraged to apply at myschools.nyc.gov or by calling 718-935-2009.
