NEWYORK: The Council of People’s Organization and the American Council of Minority Women have collected suggestions from the Pakistani community in Brooklyn for the availability of required facilities in their areas. These suggestions will be submitted to the city government so that the required facilities can be provided in the relevant areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

COPO and ACMW organized an awareness seminar on Coney Island Avenue under the program of the Civic Engagement Commission, the New York City Department of City Government, The People\u2019s Money, which began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.<\/p>\n

The seminar was attended by a large number of young people, men, women and senior citizens, including COPO Chairman Mohammad Rizvi. Civic Engagement Commission representative Paulette Hayley briefed the audience on the city government\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n

She told the participants that the purpose of this program is to get feedback from citizens on how the government should use the funds allocated for community-based development projects and schemes in the $115 billion budget to provide facilities in their areas.<\/p>\n

Informing the participants, Chairperson of the American Council of Minority Women Baza Roohi said that it is very important for the city government to know what the regional needs of your people are.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Abdul and Faizan, who were part of the COPO team, gave a briefing in English and Urdu on the difference in budget allocated for construction projects and various programs.<\/p>\n

In the seminar, groups of five people were formed and their recommendations and suggestions were recorded in a form that will be presented to the city government.
