{"id":34217,"date":"2024-08-30T15:14:25","date_gmt":"2024-08-30T15:14:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/?p=34217"},"modified":"2024-08-30T15:14:25","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T15:14:25","slug":"ndma-advisory-cyclonic-storm-asna-over-northeast-arabian-sea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/34217","title":{"rendered":"NDMA Advisory: Cyclonic storm \u201cASNA\u201d over northeast Arabian sea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISLAMABAD: National Emergencies Operation Center anticipated that a deep depression over Rann of Kutch, India is approaching west-southwest of Pakistan and now lies at around Latitude 23.5 N &amp; Longitude 68.4 E at about 170 km east \/ southeast of Karachi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The system is likely to keep moving further west \/ southwestwards in northeast Arabian Sea along Sindh coast and intensify further into a Cyclonic Storm (CS) this afternoon \/ evening.<\/p>\n<p>Under its influence, widespread rain \/ wind-thunderstorms with scattered heavy \/ very heavy and isolated extremely heavy falls are likely expected in Karachi division, Tharparker, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Hyderabad, T.M Khan, T.A Yar, Matiari, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Dadu &amp; Shaheed Benazirabad* districts till 31 August.<\/p>\n<p>Widespread rain \/ wind-thunderstorms with scattered heavy \/ very heavy falls are also likely in Hub, Lasbela, Awaran, Kech &amp; Gwadar districts from 30 August to 1 September 2024 with occasional gaps.<\/p>\n<p>Under the said Cyclonic Storm, sea conditions are likely to remain rough \/ very rough with squally winds 50-60 Km \/ hour, gusting 70 Km \/ hour.<\/p>\n<p>Coastal flooding may occur along Sindh-coast. Pluvial flood \/ inundation may occur in low lying areas of Sindh. Windstorms may damage crops, loose structures, etc. Thunderstorms to increase risk of lightning strikes.<\/p>\n<p>Electricity \/ other utility services may get disrupted. Fishermen of Sindh are advised not to venture into sea till 31 August and those from Balochistan till 1 September.<\/p>\n<p>General public is advised to avoid visiting the seaside and beach areas and remain cautious of loose structures like billboards, electrical poles, solar panels and hoardings.<\/p>\n<p>The public is also advised to stay informed by keeping track of weather updates and alerts.<\/p>\n<p>NDMA has launched the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application, available on Google Play Store and iOS App Store, to provide timely alerts, advisories, and guidelines to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Residents of these areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow guidance from local authorities.<\/p>\n<p>NDMA has issued instructions to all relevant departments to take necessary precautions to mitigate the possible effects of flooding and extreme weather.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: National Emergencies Operation Center anticipated that a deep depression over Rann of Kutch, India is approaching west-southwest of Pakistan and now lies at around Latitude 23.5 N &amp; Longitude 68.4 E at about 170 km east \/ southeast of Karachi.
