New York: Postmortem examination of the body of Mary T. Mara,61, a veteran television actress who was found dead in the St. Lawrence River Sunday, revealed that she passed away by \u2018asphyxiation\u2019 due to drowning, usmagazine.com reported while quoting NYSP Troop D Public Information Officer Jack Keller on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Jefferson County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office performed a post-mortem examination on the decedent and determined that the decedent\u2019s manner of death was an accident, due to asphyxiation, due to warm water drowning,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
Mara was found by first responders in Cape Vincent, New York, around 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 26. Per a press release from the New York State police, emergency personnel responded to a call about a possible drowning in the St. Lawrence River, which borders Canada. The actress was in town visiting her sister Martha Mara.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim\u2019s body showed no signs of foul play and was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office,\u201d law enforcement officials said in their statement.<\/p>\n
The following day, the Ray Donovan alum\u2019s rep, Craig Dorfman, confirmed her untimely passing in a statement to Us Weekly.<\/p>\n
In a statement, her manager, Craig Dorfman, described her as \u201celectric, funny, and a true individual” who was well-loved, as well as a tremendous actress.<\/p>\n
Her earliest acting credit goes back to the 1989 movie \u201cThe Preppie Murder.” The New York native worked regularly ever since, in a combination of repeat characters in some shows and appearances in others.<\/p>\n
The actress worked off-Broadway early on in her 32-year career. She made her feature film debut in 1992, starring in Love Potion No. 9 alongside Sandra Bullock and Tate Donovan. Mara played Billy Crystal’s daughter in the film Mr. Saturday Night that same year.
