{"id":17908,"date":"2020-11-27T10:45:11","date_gmt":"2020-11-27T05:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=17908"},"modified":"2020-11-27T10:47:26","modified_gmt":"2020-11-27T05:47:26","slug":"echr-halts-extradition-of-drug-lord","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/17908","title":{"rendered":"ECHR halts extradition of \u2018Sultan of Drugs\u2019\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>News Desk,<\/p>\n<p>The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has effectively halted the extradition of Pakistani national Muhammad Asif Hafeez, to the US on charges of drug import and production.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said Asif Hafeez\u00a0 known as the \u2018Sultan of Drugs\u2019\u00a0 will be presenting his full case to the European Court next month, pleading why the European Court should permanently halt his extradition to the US where he faces a life sentence without parole.<\/p>\n<p>The ECHR\u2019s decision to halt the extradition, while the case is ongoing, will benefit two other Pakistanis\u00a0 Jabir Motiwala and Arif Naqvi who are fighting the US extradition bid and have argued before the courts almost similar grounds as those of Asif Hafeez\u2019s lawyers.
