{"id":17602,"date":"2020-11-06T10:48:38","date_gmt":"2020-11-06T05:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=17602"},"modified":"2020-11-06T15:02:57","modified_gmt":"2020-11-06T10:02:57","slug":"pakistan-rejects-indian-propaganda-over-kartarpur-corridor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/17602","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan rejects, Indian \u2018propaganda\u2019 over Kartarpur corridor."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>KARACHI, Pakistan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pakistan on Thursday rejected India&#8217;s claim that Islamabad plans to transfer the management of Kartarpur border crossing for Sikh pilgrims to a state-run non-Sikh body.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Pakistan categorically rejects the baseless and fallacious propaganda by the Indian government against the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor,&#8221; said a statement from the Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, New Delhi said it has seen reports that Islamabad is transferring the management of the corridor, opened in November last year to facilitate the Indian Sikhs, to Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis unilateral decision by Pakistan is highly condemnable and runs against the spirit of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor as also the religious sentiments of the Sikh community at large,\u201d a statement from India\u2019s Ministry of External Affairs said, calling on Islamabad to \u201creverse its arbitrary decision to deprive the Sikh community (of) its right to manage the affairs of the holy Gurdawara Kartarpur Sahib.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC), which is currently holding the corridor&#8217;s management itself has rejected the Indian claim, Pakistan\u2019s Foreign Ministry statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cmalicious\u201d propaganda, it added, by the Indian government is simply an attempt to malign the \u201cPeace Corridor\u201d initiative by \u201ccasting mischievous aspersions against the interests of the Sikh community and to detract attention from India\u2019s own reprehensible human rights violations of minorities in India.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The PSGPC remains responsible for carrying out rituals in Gurdwaras, including the Kartarpur as per \u201cSikh Rehat Maryada\u201d\u00a0 code of conduct and conventions for Sikhism\u00a0 according to the statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Project Management Unit (PMU) under the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has \u201csimply been created to facilitate the PSGPC in this regard,\u201d it went on to say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny insinuations regarding &#8216;transferring&#8217; the affairs of the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur from the PSGPC to the PMU are not only contrary to the facts but also aimed at creating religious disharmony by the Hindutva-driven BJP government in India,\u201d the statement further said.<\/p>\n<p>The Sikh community from all over the world, it added, remains greatly appreciative of the efforts made by Pakistan \u201cto complete the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor Project in record time and for the excellent arrangements made to facilitate the pilgrims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Islamabad itself \u201cadvised\u201d New Delhi to take steps to \u201cprotect its minorities and their places of worship, rather than feigning misleading and sham concerns for the rights of minorities elsewhere,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The two longtime rivals had opened the key border crossing for Sikh pilgrims ahead of 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikh religion last year in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>Kartarpur border connects Pakistan\u2019s northeastern Narowal city to India\u2019s eastern Gurdaspur district.<\/p>\n<p>Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara situated in Narowal\u00a0 some 115 kilometers (71 miles) from provincial capital Lahore\u00a0 is one of the most revered temple for the Sikh community as Baba Guru Nanak spent last 18 years of his life here.<\/p>\n<p>The distance between the temple and Gurdaspur is merely 3 kilometers (2 miles) but the closure of this crossing costs Sikh pilgrims from India to travel hundreds of kilometers, via Amritsar and Lahore, to reach here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI, Pakistan Pakistan on Thursday rejected India&#8217;s claim that Islamabad plans to transfer the management of Kartarpur border crossing for Sikh pilgrims to a state-run non-Sikh body. &#8220;Pakistan categorically rejects the baseless and fallacious propaganda by the Indian government against the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor,&#8221; said a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
