{"id":17358,"date":"2020-10-26T11:23:12","date_gmt":"2020-10-26T06:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=17358"},"modified":"2020-10-26T11:23:53","modified_gmt":"2020-10-26T06:23:53","slug":"pm-khan-appeals-for-ban-on-islamophobic-content-to-facebooks-zuckerberg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/17358","title":{"rendered":"PM Khan appeals for ban on Islamophobic content to Facebook\u2019s Zuckerberg."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad,<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan\u2019s Prime Minister Imran Khan wrote to Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Sunday, in an impassioned appeal to ban the vilification of Islam and Muslims on the social media platform, a kin to the Facebook ban on posts that deny the Holocaust, according to a press release.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Sunday, Khan had denounced French President Emmanuel Macron\u2019s \u2018encouragement of Islamophobia\u2019 in a series of tweets, and said Macron was \u2018deliberately provoking\u2019 Muslims.<\/p>\n<p>Khan\u2019s denouncement came in the wake of comments from the French leader last week in which he vowed not to \u2018give up cartoons\u2019 depicting the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and stated \u2018Islamists want our future.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI appreciate your taking the step to rightly ban any posting that criticizes or questions the Holocaust,\u201d Khan wrote to Zuckerberg, his message peppered with examples of recent anti-Muslim laws and statements from the Indian and French governments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the rampant abuse and vilification of Muslims on social media platforms, I would ask you to place a similar ban on Islamophobia and hate against Islam for Facebook that you have put in place for the Holocaust.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">My letter to CEO Facebook Mark Zuckerberg to ban Islamophobia just as Facebook has banned questioning or criticising the holocaust. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mCMnz9kxcj\">pic.twitter.com\/mCMnz9kxcj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ImranKhanPTI\/status\/1320440661385093121?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 25, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>On Oct 12, a message from the Vice President of Facebook\u2019s content policy said the social media giant\u2019s hate speech policy had been updated to ban any denials or distortions of the Holocaust the mass Nazi pogrom of the Jews of Germany and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have banned more than 250 white supremacist organizations and updated our policies to address militia groups and QAnon.
