{"id":15160,"date":"2020-06-15T12:43:50","date_gmt":"2020-06-15T07:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=15160"},"modified":"2020-06-15T12:43:50","modified_gmt":"2020-06-15T07:43:50","slug":"iraqi-politician-dies-of-coronavirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/15160","title":{"rendered":"Iraqi politician dies of coronavirus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BAGHDAD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Iraqi politician Tawfiq al-Yasiri died after contracting the novel coronavirus on Sunday, according to a local medical source.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Yasiri, the head of the Democratic Patriotic Coalition, was admitted to hospital a few days ago after being diagnosed with COVID-19 but succumbed to the disease on Sunday, the source said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Yasiri had served in the Iraqi Navy during the era of former President Saddam Hussein before he defected and fled to Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>He returned to Iraq after the fall of the Iraqi regime in 2003 and formed the Democratic Patriotic Coalition.
