{"id":14922,"date":"2020-06-03T11:47:10","date_gmt":"2020-06-03T06:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=14922"},"modified":"2020-06-03T11:47:10","modified_gmt":"2020-06-03T06:47:10","slug":"lawmaker-dies-after-recovering-from-covid-19-another-sind-mpa-succumbs-to-corona-virus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/14922","title":{"rendered":"Lawmaker dies after recovering from COVID-19, another Sind MPA succumbs to corona virus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>KARACHI, Pakistan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A senior Pakistani lawmaker died of cardiac arrest early on Tuesday, just weeks after recovering from COVID-19, his family confirmed to local media.<\/p>\n<p>Munir Khan Orakzai, 61, elected to the National Assembly, the lower house of Pakistan\u2019s parliament, in 2018, had contracted coronavirus in April but recovered, local broadcaster ARY News reported, quoting family members.<\/p>\n<p>He was rushed to the hospital after a heart attack on Monday night but did not survive, the family said.<\/p>\n<p>He was a member of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, one of the country\u2019s mainstream religious parties, and was elected to the National Assembly from Orakzai district in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Orakzai fell unconscious during a during a parliamentary session, reportedly due to low blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, and National Assembly Speaker Asad were among several officials to offer condolences over the lawmaker\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile another senior\u00a0 Member of\u00a0 Provincial Assembly Ghullam Murtaza Baloch 56, loss a life in the fight against\u00a0 covid 19\u00a0 he\u00a0 was shifted to the Agha khan hospital on 14th of may due to respiratory distress,\u00a0 on 22nd of May his health condition worsen and shifted to Intensive care Unit and put on ventilator.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14925\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14925\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/MPA-Murtaza-Baloch.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-14925 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/MPA-Murtaza-Baloch-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/MPA-Murtaza-Baloch-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/MPA-Murtaza-Baloch.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14925\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MPA, Sind Assembly, Human settlements portfolio, Murtaza Baloch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He was diabetic\u00a0 and a heart patient who had undergone an angiography some time ago,\u201d said a family member.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by two wives and eight children.<\/p>\n<p>Ghullam Murtaza Baloch, who hailed from Haji Faqeer Mohammad Goth in Gadap Town, twice served as town nazim during the tenure of President Pervez Musharraf and became an MPA in 2013 after defeating the Muttahida Qaumi Movement candidate in Malir by-polls.<\/p>\n<p>Soon after his victory, he was appointed the provincial labour minister by the PPP government.<\/p>\n<p>In the last general elections, he not only bagged the PS-188 seat but, as PPP\u2019s Malir district president, he played a pivotal role in winning the party five Sindh Assembly and two National Assembly seats. Following the election, he was given the Katchi Abadis portfolio, which was later renamed the Human Settlements portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>As news of his passing emerged, many politicians condoled his death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBaloch was a true jiyala who stood by the party at every difficult time,\u201d said PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah called him brave and a hard worker, adding that his services for the party were matchless.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI, Pakistan A senior Pakistani lawmaker died of cardiac arrest early on Tuesday, just weeks after recovering from COVID-19, his family confirmed to local media.
