A sky-high observation deck\u00a0 at Manhattan\u2019s Hudson Yards opened to the public Wednesday featuring a glass window in the ground that allows brave thrill-seeking visitors to stare 100 stories below.<\/p>\n
The Edge, which juts out from the glassy commercial skyscraper at 30 Hudson Yards, costs $36 to visit but the brave crowds who flocked there for opening day said it was worth every penny for the stunning view.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s overwhelming. It\u2019s so beautiful,\u201d said Mary Cunha, 38, of Astoria, who surprised her mother with tickets.<\/p>\n
Fransina Gutierrez, 31, from Ecuador, said she wasn\u2019t so wowed by the see-through floor but loved the vertical vistas.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think the glass floor is that impressive, but the view is really amazing,\u201d said Gutierrez, who came with her best friend for her own birthday. \u201cI thought it was going to be scarier, but it\u2019s nice up here.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been waiting for this for a long time. I study architecture. I\u2019m impressed,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
The cantilevered steel deck protrudes about 80 feet out from near the top of the West Side tower, sitting 1,131 feet high.<\/p>\n
But some kept far away from the 9-foot glass walls surrounding the balcony.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m terrified of heights, but I like to think I can overcome all my fears, so here I am. It is awesome,\u201d said DJ Kilby, 26, a student at Columbia University.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought I was going to pass out in the elevator ride, but this is too cool not to come here.\u201d<\/p>\n
His wife, Laurina Kilby, 25, said the view still beats out other high-rise famous landmarks.<\/p>\n
