The head of the Port Authority visiting local airports were tested positive from COVID19, Governor Andrew Cuomo said Monday, as the state\u2019s infection toll rose by 37, to 173 patients.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cuomo said he himself \u201ccould have been in contact\u201d with infected Port Authority executive director Rick Cotton but hasn\u2019t been tested because he\u2019s an \u201cimprobable positive,\u201d meaning he isn\u2019t likely to have the virus.<\/span><\/p>\n

The governor didn\u2019t say how Cotton may have contracted the potentially deadly bug but noted that the executive director \u201chas been at the airports, obviously, when many people were coming back with the virus.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Cuomo specifically mentioned JFK Airport in Queens.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cotton \u201cwill be working from home, and now the senior team that works with Rick will also be tested so several of them may be on quarantine and they\u2019ll be working from home,\u201d Cuomo said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The PA chief and his \u201csenior leadership team\u201d are under 14-day quarantine, officials later added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Authorities revealed that the state total of confirmed coronavirus cases is now at 173.<\/span><\/p>\n

They include more in New York City and an additional in Westchester County, which is currently the hardest-hit area in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese numbers are going to continue to go in one direction and that is up,\u201d Cuomo warned.<\/span><\/p>\n
