{"id":13469,"date":"2020-03-08T12:36:08","date_gmt":"2020-03-08T07:36:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=13469"},"modified":"2020-03-08T12:36:08","modified_gmt":"2020-03-08T07:36:08","slug":"good-samaritans-foil-drivers-escape-after-hits-brooklyn-bicyclist-nypd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/13469","title":{"rendered":"Good Samaritans foil driver\u2019s escape after hits Brooklyn bicyclist, NYPD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A dollar van driver tried to run from the scene after plowing into a bicyclist in Brooklyn on Saturday only to be stopped by angry, but good, Samaritans, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The crash happened at Flatbush Avenue and Avenue U in Marine Park at about 5:15 p.m., and left the woman bicyclist in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p>The 42-year-old driver tried to leave the scene on foot, but witnesses spotted him and tackled him a block away, holding him until police arrived, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>Photos show the woman\u2019s mangled bicycle caught under the rear wheels of the van, Pennsylvania license plates and did not have Taxi and Limousine Commission plates.<\/p>\n<p>A phone message left with Bergen County Community Transportation, the company whose name is on the side of the van, was not immediately returned Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The driver was taken to the 63rd Precinct station house, where charges were pending Saturday night, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>The bicyclist remained in Kings County Hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p>The NYPD\u2019s Collision Investigation Squad will determine the cause of the crash.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A dollar van driver tried to run from the scene after plowing into a bicyclist in Brooklyn on Saturday only to be stopped by angry, but good, Samaritans, police said.
