Go outside.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He then turned to another Israeli official and thanked him for his work. But he then asked the police around him to \u201cplease respect the rules as they are for centuries. They will not change with me\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">French President Emmanuel Macron gets testy with Israeli police in the church of Sainte Anne, Old City of Jerusalem. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/14NjxLPvLA\">pic.twitter.com\/14NjxLPvLA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Noga Tarnopolsky \u05e0\u05d2\u05d4 \u05d8\u05e8\u05e0\u05d5\u05e4\u05d5\u05dc\u05e1\u05e7\u05d9 \u0646\u0648\u063a\u0627 \u062a\u0631\u0646\u0648\u0628\u0648\u0644\u0633\u0643\u064a (@NTarnopolsky) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NTarnopolsky\/status\/1219994850931675141?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 22, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Macron later described the incident as a \u201cmoment of irritation\u201d between security forces, noting that Israeli security stops at the door of the church \u201cand French security takes over\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Israel has deployed thousands of police as dozens of world leaders, including Mr Macron, descend upon the city for a commemoration ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.<\/p>\n<p>The scene was reminiscent of a 1996 visit by then French president Jacques Chirac, who also got angry at Israeli security accompanying him in Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you want, me to go back to my plane and go back to France?\u201d Mr Chirac screamed at the time.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint statement, Israeli police and the Shin Bet security agency said that when Mr Macron arrived, \u201cthere was a discussion\u201d between Israeli and French security about entering the church with him.
