Israeli forces have detained eight Palestinians in overnight raids carried out across the occupied West Bank, the Israeli army said.<\/p>\n
In a Wednesday statement, the Israeli military said the individuals had been arrested for \u201csuspected involvement in popular hostile activities”, without elaborating about the nature of these alleged activities.<\/p>\n
The Israeli army carries out frequent arrest campaigns across the West Bank — including occupied East Jerusalem — on the pretext of searching for \u201cwanted\u201d Palestinians.<\/p>\n
According to Palestinian figures, roughly 5,700 Palestinians — including numerous women and children — are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes carried out fresh airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday following a rocket fire, according to the military.<\/p>\n
The army said fighter jets struck a number of targets belonging to Palestinian groups Hamas, which rules the seaside territory.<\/p>\n
No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
The military said a weapons manufacturing site and underground infrastructure were among the sites targeted.<\/p>\n
