{"id":12015,"date":"2019-11-22T10:03:48","date_gmt":"2019-11-22T05:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=12015"},"modified":"2019-11-22T10:03:48","modified_gmt":"2019-11-22T05:03:48","slug":"turkey-hosts-international-conference-on-kashmir-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/12015","title":{"rendered":"Turkey Hosts International Conference on Kashmir"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kashmir is not an internal matter of India, speakers gathered at an international conference in the Turkish capital agreed on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Kashmir Turmoil: Emerging Threats to Peace and Role of International Community was co-hosted by Turkey\u2019s Institute of Strategic Thinking and Pakistan\u2019s Lahore Center for Peace Research.<\/p>\n<p>The speakers added that India&#8217;s Aug. 5 move to unilaterally scrap the special provisions of the disputed region is a potential trigger to cause instability in South Asia.<\/p>\n<p>The provisions allowed Jammu and Kashmir to enact its own laws and protected the region&#8217;s citizenship law, which barred outsiders from settling in or owning land in the territory.<\/p>\n<p>Sherry Rehman, a senator from Pakistan, said: &#8220;India is trying to redefine the global order [&#8230;] It is doing it by use of power, not soft power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rehman said India\u2019s unilateral actions in Kashmir is a \u201cslap on the face of international community and United Nations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Shamshad Ahmad Khan, a former Pakistani diplomat, warned that if the Kashmir dispute remains unresolved \u201cit will have disastrous consequences as it has become a virtual nuclear flash point\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Khan, who is also chairman of the Lahore Center for Peace Research, said: \u201cIndia has tried to silence Kashmiris in past. It did not work and it will not work in future too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turkey\u2019s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) lawmaker Erkan Akcay said that world faces six key problems: Jerusalem, Cyprus, Kashmir, Crimea, Kashgar (Xinjiang).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf these issues are solved the world will become a better place to live,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Kashmir has become the frontier of U.S.-China hegemony. \u201cIsrael sells weapons to India, while U.S. backs India to counter China,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Turkey\u2019s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party lawmaker Muhammet Amin Abasoglu said the hopes and wishes of Kashmiris are integral to any solution.<\/p>\n<p>President of Turkey\u2019s Religious Affairs Ali Erbas recalled his school days, saying: \u201cWe would raise slogans in favor of struggle of Kashmiris.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>President of Turkey\u2019s Court of Cassation Ismail Rustu Cirit termed Kashmir as a \u201cbleeding wound\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Former Iranian Prime Minister Mir-Hossein Mousavi said: \u201cKashmir dispute has affected many aspects of the region, including development, and the people of Kashmir as well as Pakistan have suffered a lot for 73 years now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>U.K.-based Kashmiri lobbyist Lord Nazir Ahmad said that India&#8217;s ruling party has a pan-South Asian vision called \u201cAkhand Baharat &#8212; Great India\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe acts of hardcore Hindu nationalists have nothing to do with Hinduism,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing what India did in Kashmir, Pakistan should withdraw from bilateral pacts including Shimla Agreement,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kashmir is not an internal matter of India, speakers gathered at an international conference in the Turkish capital agreed on Wednesday.
