{"id":11989,"date":"2019-11-21T12:37:02","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T07:37:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=11989"},"modified":"2019-11-21T12:37:02","modified_gmt":"2019-11-21T07:37:02","slug":"yemens-houthis-release-captured-south-korean-saudi-vessels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/11989","title":{"rendered":"Yemen&#8217;s Houthis Release Captured South Korean, Saudi Vessels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"speakable\">Yemen&#8217;s\u00a0 Houthi rebels released three vessels and 16 people they had seized, South Korea&#8217;s foreign ministry and a Houthi military source said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The seizure on Sunday \u00a0was the latest incident at sea around Yemen, where Saudi Arabia is leading a Western-backed coalition of Arab states against the Houthis, who control the capital and most population centres.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Of the vessels freed on Tuesday, two were South Korean \u00a0and one was Saudi Arabia-flagged, the South Korean foreign ministry said in a statement, adding the families of two South Koreans among the crew had been notified.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The three ships were released after the necessary legal measures,&#8221; the Houthi military source in Yemen told Reuters news agency, adding all crew were also freed.<\/p>\n<p>On Twitter, Hussein al-Azzi, the Houthi deputy foreign minister, said the release resulted from friendly ties between Seoul and Sanaa, the Yemeni capital the Houthis overran in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>A Houthi investigation found the ships entered Yemeni waters because of bad weather,\u00a0al-Azzi\u00a0added.
