{"id":11440,"date":"2019-11-05T10:24:44","date_gmt":"2019-11-05T05:24:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=11440"},"modified":"2019-11-05T10:24:44","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T05:24:44","slug":"tourist-lost-at-sea-survived-for-three-days-by-eating-lollies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/11440","title":{"rendered":"Tourist Lost-At-Sea Survived for Three Days by Eating Lollies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kushila Stein, 47, from New Zealand,\u00a0 went missing \u00a0off the Greek island of Folegandros after going ashore to go shopping on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>She had been making her way back to a yacht in the Aegean Sea when one of her oars went overboard and she lost control of the dinghy.<\/p>\n<p>Kushila Stein was rescued from the Aegean Sea, north of Crete, on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>During her 37-hour ordeal Ms Stein reportedly rationed a &#8220;handful of boiled lollies&#8221; and wrapped herself in plastic bags for warmth.<\/p>\n<p>Her husband, Mike,\u00a0 got alarmed when he awoke at 5am on Saturday to find she had still not returned from shopping.<\/p>\n<p>Greek authorities launched a search and rescue mission that included six coastguard vessels, a helicopter, and an underwater drone.<\/p>\n<p>After an extensive search, the Greek Coast Guard found her 101km (55 nautical miles) north of Crete, Greece&#8217;s largest island, after 40 hours at sea with no fresh water.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NINTCHDBPICT000536674685.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11442\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NINTCHDBPICT000536674685.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"963\" height=\"541\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NINTCHDBPICT000536674685.jpg 963w, https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NINTCHDBPICT000536674685-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NINTCHDBPICT000536674685-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NINTCHDBPICT000536674685-390x220.jpg 390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 963px) 100vw, 963px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>An experienced sailor, Ms Stein put a red bag on her head and used a mirror to attract attention, reports say.<\/p>\n<div class=\"advert-wrapper advert-wrapper--articlempu\">\n<div id=\"articlempu\" class=\"dfp-ad advert--inarticle\">She was reportedly taken to hospital in the Crete city of Herakleion and to have been treated for dehydration.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Stein is an experienced sailor who has instructed others in how to survive at sea.
