The Severe Cyclonic Storm \u2018Maha\u2019 over the Arabian Sea has intensified into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) and has strengthened into a Category 1 storm.<\/p>\n

Over the past 12 hours, it has been moving northwestwards and, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), was likely to turn into a Category 3 storm in the next 24-36 hours.<\/p>\n

Further, according to the weather experts, the Category 1 Cyclone ‘Maha’ is 795 kilometers south of Karachi, port city of Pakistan,\u00a0 sustaining winds of 120-140 kilometers per hour at its center.<\/p>\n

Than storm Maha is likely to make landfall along Gujarat coast between Dwarka and Diu on the night of November 6, and bring heavy to very heavy rains till the next day, according to the India Meteorological Department said on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u2018Maha\u2019 follows Super Cyclone ‘Kyarr’,\u00a0borne out of the track that the latter left behind in the seawater, as per\u00a0the director of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Sardar Sarfaraz, who said low pressure had developed in the Arabian Sea as winds turned calmer after ‘Kyarr’.<\/p>\n

Google, citing the India Meteorological Department (IMD), has issued a\u00a0 Cyclone Waring \u00a0for Eastcentral Arabian Sea, noting that ‘Maha’ “moved further westwards with a speed of 09 kmph during past 06 hours [and] intensified into a Very Severe Cyclonic storm”.<\/p>\n
