{"id":10736,"date":"2019-10-12T12:46:02","date_gmt":"2019-10-12T07:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=10736"},"modified":"2019-10-12T12:47:38","modified_gmt":"2019-10-12T07:47:38","slug":"cricket-australia-introduces-maternity-leave","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/10736","title":{"rendered":"Cricket Australia Introduces Maternity Leave"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sp-story-body__introduction\">Cricket Australia has introduced maternity leave for the first time in an initiative launched alongside the Australian Cricketers&#8217; Association.<\/p>\n<p>Players with state, national or Big Bash contracts who give birth or adopt will be given up to 12 months of paid parental leave.<\/p>\n<p>It guarantees players a contract extension for the following year, plus other benefits and support until the child is four years old.<\/p>\n<p>The policy came into effect on 1 July.<\/p>\n<p>It also gives three weeks of paid leave to anyone whose partner is pregnant or adopting.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch in Sydney on Friday, Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy said: &#8220;As a player, I&#8217;m proud to be part of a game with such a comprehensive and fit-for-purpose parental leave policy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the playing and travel demands on cricketers, I&#8217;m pleased this policy provides support to players, so if they choose to, can both care for their child and participate in the game.<\/p>\n<p>Former Australia star Sarah Elliott &#8211; part of the consultation process which began in 2017 &#8211; returned to international cricket after giving birth in 2013, and scored a Test century against England while breastfeeding her nine-month-old son during breaks in play.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cricket Australia has introduced maternity leave for the first time in an initiative launched alongside the Australian Cricketers&#8217; Association.
