{"id":10285,"date":"2019-10-04T13:09:06","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T08:09:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=10285"},"modified":"2019-10-04T14:20:19","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T09:20:19","slug":"mahatma-gandhis-ashes-stolen-photo-defaced-on-150th-birthday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/10285","title":{"rendered":"Mahatma Gandhi&#8217;s Ashes Stolen, Photo Defaced on 150th Birthday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a shocking development, some of Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s remains were stolen from a memorial in central India.<\/p>\n<p>The famous leader\u2019s ashes were taken from Bapu Bhawan in Laxmanbagh Sansthan, where they had been kept since 1948 , the year of his assassination by a Hindu extremist.<\/p>\n<p>A portrait of Mahatma Gandhi was also defaced at Bapu Bhawan in Laxmanbagh Sansthan on Gandhi Jayanti by unidentified persons who wrote &#8220;deshdrohi&#8221; (traitor) over it and also stole an urn which was used for immersing his ashes, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened on Wednesday when the country was celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.<\/p>\n<p>Police sprang into action after Gurmeet Singh, a leader of the Congress party, filed a complaint, pressing \u00a0\u201cI urge Rewa police to check CCTV cameras installed inside Bapu Bhawan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the complaint, Mangu had alleged that the stolen urn contained the ashes of Gandhi, but Khan said police were not sure about it.<\/p>\n<p>Some Hindu hardliners oppose Gandhi and his views because he advocated Hindu-Muslim unity.
