At least seven people were killed and another two injured when a small plane crashed in southwestern Colombia on Sunday,.
Nine people were on board the plane. Seven died, while two are seriously injured,” Juan Carlos Ganan, the commander of firefighters in the area, told.
The third person injured was a child on the ground in the area where the plane crashed, Ganan adding, firefighters were trying to stop fuel leaking from the aircraft.
The airplane crashed only minutes after taking off while on its way to Lopez de Micay, a rural municipality in the Pacific region of Cauca.
The country’s civil aviation authority almost immediately began investigating the causes of the fatal crash.
The cause of the crash was not known and an investigation was under way.
