At least four Pakistani and five Indian soldiers were killed in renewed clashes, amid heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed state of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan Army claimed.
Two civilians were also killed and another injured in Battal sector of Poonch district due to shelling from across the restive LoC.
Today another soldier of the Pakistan Army was martyred in firing by Indian forces from across the Line of Control (LoC), Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said,a day after three soldiers were martyerd in shelling from across the LoC.
“In order to divert attention from precarious situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Army increases firing along the LoC. four Pakistani soldiers embraced Shahadat (martyrdom),” twitted Major Gen Asif Ghaoor.
In response, he claimed, five Indian soldiers were killed and many others were injured. Indian forces bunkers were also damaged, he added.
The Foreign Office summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia to condemn the unprovoked ceasefire violations committed by the Indian forces today.
The incident comes a day after three Army soldiers and two civilians were martyred in two sectors of Pakistan administered Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) as Indian troops resorted to heavy shelling from across the restive LoC. A civilian was also injured.
The fresh round of clashes coincided with summoning of a special UN Security Council session on Friday, to discuss the deteriorating situation in the Himalayan state of Jammu and Kashmir on Islamabad’s request.
The tensions between the two countries have flared up following the India move of scrapping the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which is divided between the two neighbors in parts with both claiming it in full.
