ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday took sou moto notice of Mardan’s 4-year-old Aasma rape and murder case.
The top court swung into action after Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) confirmed that Aasma was raped before being killed.
Chief Justice has sought a report from Inspector General Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Salah-ud-Din Khan Mehsud within 24 hours.
“DNA tests have revealed that 4-year old Aasma was sexually assaulted,” Director General PFSA Dr Mohammad Ashraf Tahir confirmed.
He added that Mardan police had provided DNA samples of Aasma and 200 suspects to Punjab Forensics Laboratory.
“We have found one person’s DNA on Aasma’s body and next step is to match the samples,” Dr Ashraf said.
District Nazim’s Claims
Earlier, On January 17th, Mardan District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar had also claimed that minor girl was raped before the murder and accused Police officials of covering the autopsy report.
On January 18th, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak had visited the bereaved family members and assured them of all possible help in this case.
4 years old girl had gone missing on January 14 in Gujar Garhi, the area of Mardan and her body was found in sugarcane fields after one day.
