Renowned Author Ursula K Le Guin Passed Away

Renowned American novelist Ursula Kroeber Le Guin has passed away.

Le Guin died in her house in Portland. She had been living the same house for the past 36 years.

The demise of the best-selling writer, Ursula K Le Guin was confirmed by her Twitter account on Tuesday evening.

The 88-year-old author had been severely ill since long.

The acclaimed author penned everything from short stories to children’s books but was best known for her work in the science fiction and fantasy realm.

She was famous for her popular series ‘A Wizard of the Earth Sea’ and a sci-fi classic ‘The Left Hand of Darkness.’

The author won five Hugo awards, considered as science fiction’s most prestigious honour, for this series.

Le Guin was designated as a Living Legend by the US Library of Congress in 2000, for her significant contribution to America’s cultural heritage.

US horror author Stephen King while reacting to her death, called her “one of the greats.”

“Not just a science fiction writer; a literary icon. Godspeed into the galaxy,” he paid highly tribute on Twitter.
