Kentucky Teen Kills Two in Major School Shooting

OHIO: A 15-year-old boy opened fire in a school in western Kentucky, killing two of his class fellows and injuring 17 others.

The shooting took place at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky, on Tuesday.

The victims were both 15-year-old, male and a female. Police say the culprit has been arrested without specifying the cause of the shooting.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department said he will be charged with murder and attempted murder.

Sheriff Dept told media that the shooter entered the school with a handgun in his hand and opened fire. He said 14 students are being treated for gunshot-related injuries while others had for non-gunshot wounds.

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin expressed disbelief that such an incident could take place in a close-knit community.

“Respect the fact that these children belong to this community and specific families in this community,” Bevin said. “This is a wound that will take a long time to heal. For some in this community, it never will.”

The bloodshed is a recent incident of school shooting incidents in the US which has become a regular occurrence in the country. As many as 40 lives have been lost and dozens of people fatally injured in 10 of such incidents sine 2010.
