Saudi Arabia Shoots Down Ballistic Yemeni Missile

RIYADH: Local media reported that Saudi Forces have shot down a ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi group. There were no casualties or damage reported, local media confirmed.

Saudi Arabia is leading a coalition against the Houthis in neighbouring Yemen since March 2015 after the Houthis movement drove Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi into exile.

On November 4th, 2017, Saudi forces intercepted a ballistic missile targeting Riyadh’s King Khaled Airport. Another ballistic missile was shot down fired by Houthi group near the south-western city of Khamis Mushait in December 2017.

In the past Houthis have fired many missiles at Saudi Arabia, which have not caused any harm or damage but heated up the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The conflict has led to one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises and killed at least 10,000 people. Saudi Arabia has accused Iran of supporting Houthis and providing weapons in civil war whereas  Iran has denied the Saudi Claims.
