Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Bajwa in Sri Lanka

RAWALPINDIChief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived Sri Lanka  Tuesday on a two-day official visit.

Pakistan Army’s media wing ISPR stated that COAS Qamar Bajwa was invited by the Commander of the Sri Lankan Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake.

Bajwa’s delegation was welcomed by the Commander of the Sri Lankan Army at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

During the visit, Army Chief remarked that Sri Lanka and Pakistan are the two countries which have a mutual understanding of defeating terrorism.

He met Sri Lankan military leadership including Chief of Defense Staff.

During the meetings, the two leaders agreed to strengthen the defence ties between both brotherly countries.

The Sri Lankan officials appreciated the role of Pakistan in the war on terrorism and its successful strategies.

COAS was given the guard of honour at the headquarters of Sri Lanka Forces.

During the visit, COAS will also meet President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

General Bajwa’s wife Mrs Ayesha Amjad Begum, Brigadier Iftikhar Hassan Chauhadary, Personal Secretary to COAS, Lieutenant Colonel Asif Hashmat and Captain Kashan Saeed are also accompanying Army Chief.
