India Says ‘Ready to Handle’ Chinese Border Aggression

NEW DELHI: India has stepped up to handle Chinese force’s assertiveness on the disputed border of China and Bhutan.

Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat stated the two countries were opening hotline communication but also insisted that his forces were ready to cop any possible tension.

Bipin Rawat was holding a press conference today.

Indian Arny Chief said in response to a question about border management, “we understand China is a powerful country but we are not a weak nation,”

“We have increased our troop levels… we have increased our patrolling intensity. We are capable of handling China´s assertiveness.

“We will not allow our territory to be invaded upon. Whenever intrusions take place we will defend because that´s there in our charter.”

Both India and China have claims over Doklam plateau, a small strip close to the intersection between China, India and Bhutan. The two armies were involved in a showdown last year.
