Abdul Quddus Bizenjo Elected CM Balochistan

QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly on Saturday elected Abdul Quddus Bizenjo of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) as new Chief Minister of the province.

Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party’s Agha Syed Liaquat Ali submitted nomination papers the previous day for contesting the election of CM Balochistan.

The session of the Assembly to elect a new leader of the house was held today with Speaker Raheela Durrani in the chair.

The house voted PML-Q’s Bazenjo in power, who grabbed 41 votes of the 64-members. PkMAP’s Agha Liaqat bagged only 13 votes.

The election of the new leader of the house was necessitated after f0rmer chief minister Sanaullah Zehri stepped down before voting on a no-confidence motion against him.

The newly-elected CM will swear in today at 5:00 pm at Governor House Balochistan. Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai will administer the oath of office to Bazenjo.

Born in Awaran on January 1, 1974, Bazenjo was first elected as MPA from the PB-41 constituency in 2002. He remained Deputy Speaker from 2013-15.

In 2013 elections, Bizenjo won his Awaran seat securing only 544 votes, least number of votes in the history of Pakistan.

Only 1.18 percent of the total votes were polled in his constituency.
