
New York: New York police raided the busy sidewalks of Lower Manhattan and seized $35 million worth of counterfeit goods that were being sold with fake tags of some famous brands.
As many as 18 suspects were arrested during the operation. Police said the under-arrest suspects are accused of trademark forgery.
Among the confiscated goods are bags with fake tags of famous brands Gucci, Louis and Chanel, glasses and caps with fake tags of Prada, and various brands.
According to the New York Police Department, the crackdown came after receiving numerous complaints from the community and business owners about counterfeit goods.
There are reports that illegal sales have been witnessed at the said location for years.
New York police have vowed to continue cracking down on illegal sales.
