It is a fact that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave constitution to Pakistan, brought back ninety thousand prisoners, reclaimed five thousand square miles of territory, held Islamic summit conference, and made Pakistan invincible by making the country a nuclear power.
Pakistan’s moving train of development was derailed, the consequences of which we are suffering till today. Our leadership fought for Pakistan’s survival and prosperity all its life.
On this occasion, Pakistan People’s Party New York President Zafar Chatta said that July 5, 1977 is a black day for the entire nation and the entire country.
On this day, a democratic prime minister was ousted by a dictator for promoting extremism, religious fanaticism and Kalashnikov culture. “e strongly condemn and will continue to do so,” he said.
Other speakers of the event expressed their views and said that on July 5, 1977 martial law was imposed to stop the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
The hopes of the nation were strangled by the overthrow of the democratic government by dictator Zia-ul-Haq, while Zulfikar Ali Bhutto brought the Muslim Ummah together and made people aware.
Other speakers said that today is not the day to applaud, today a dictator overthrew the elected government and ruled for eleven years by saying seven days of government and the popular leader of the people was hanged to death.
The 5th July will live forever as a dark day in history. If Bhutto was alive, we would have been a developed nation instead today.
Ali Awan, General Secretary of Pakistan People’s Party of America, performed the duties of organizing the ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, slogans were raised against the initiative of 5th July 1977
