Uber, Lyft drivers’ protest yield results, as TLC approves a 9 percent salary hike

New rates to be applicable from March 13

New York: Protests of Uber and Lyft drivers have finally yield results as the New York City’s Taxi and Limousine Commission has approved a 9 percent pay raise for drivers.

With this increase, drivers will be paid at least $27 for a trip of up to 30 minutes.

The new rates will be applicable from March 13.

After several months of strikes in New York City, drivers’ demands for pay increases have finally been granted.

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission yesterday approved a 9 percent pay raise for 80,000 Uber and Lyft drivers.

With the increase, drivers will be paid at least $27 for a 30-minute trip.

The decision follows Uber’s December lawsuit against withholding wages.
