
New York: An organization of Pakistani American women in New York has started distributing food items to needy families ahead of Ramadan.
The Pakistani American Skilled Women Organization (PASWO) hosted a weekly food pantry outside its office on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn,from where, this year, the required food items related to the occasion of Ramadan are being distributed among the needy people.
On this occasion, Atiya Shahnaz, a female liaison officer from the Mayor’s Office of New York City, expressed her opinion and said that Mayor Adam wants that there should be no obstacles in religious freedom for people of any religion.
Shaheen Khokhar, supervisor of the food pantry and president of PASWO, said that the organization has tried to provide ration to the needy families of the community before Ramadan.
Arlando from Congresswoman Edward Clarke’s office and Councilwoman Farah Lewis also arrived at PASWO’s Food Pantry to distribute the pre-Ramadan package.
He congratulated the Muslim community in advance of Ramadan, and said that we are ready for any kind of help and support required by the Muslim community in fulfilling their religious duties.
The Pakistani American Skilled Women Organization says that it believes in helping not only the Pakistani and Muslim community but people of all religions and races without discrimination.
