The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the State Department’s for Central Asian and Pakistan Affairs, Lesslie C. Viguerie says that “US wants lasting peace in the South Asia region and Pakistan is an important strategic ally of the United States. The annual trade between America and Pakistan has Reached to $6 billion and expected to increase, despite of pandemic Pakistan and US trade in agriculture and energy sector around $200 million. He was addressing to Pakistan Resolution Day and Platinum Ceremony of Pakistan-American relations organized by Pakistan Society of North Texas (PSNT) in Dallas. The ceremony begins with the flag hoisting and cake cutting. US officials, PSNT President Abid Malik, Treasurer Abid Baig, board of directors, local representatives and a large number of Pakistani community attended the event and the Council General Houston Abrar Hashmi welcomed them.
Mean while Deputy Assistant Secretary Lesslie C. Viguerie said on the occasion, it was an honor to attend the celebrations.
Lesslie added that we have been working jointly to improve the education sector and join hands in the fight against Pandemic. The US has provided more than 57 million vaccines aid to Pakistan while US intends to further enhance cooperation with Pakistan in the health and education sector, moreover Bilateral relations between the US and Pakistan have further improved.
Under the Student Exchange Program every year 800 Pakistani students invited to the US and so far the number of Alumni members has exceeded 37,000. Last month a program held in Islamabad under the umbrella of US student exchange program and it was realized that a large number of Pakistani students wants to study in the US, says Lesslie.
It was glad to attend this event, 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the United States have been completed and we hope that our relations will continue to grow. Lessilie added.
While responding to a question on Pak-US trade relations, Leslie replied, the US wants to promote investments and expand trade relations with Pakistan. The annual trade volume between Pakistan and US is $6 billion and this trade be further enhanced if businessmen from both the countries work together.There are no plans to invite skilled people to the US at the moment. Promoting education and improving the health sector is our priority, Lesslie replied to another question.
Pakistani students come to the US for study and then contribute for the stabilization of the country’s economy, Lessilie added.

We are trying to bridge the gap between Pakistani community and US officialsPresident PSNT Abid Malik said that it was a matter of pride for us to have Lesslie C. Viguerie present in the Pakistan Day celebrations. We hoped that Pak-US relations will further improve and bilateral cooperation in various fields will be enhanced more.Treasurer PSNT Abid Baig said, Pakistan is an important ally of US in the war against terrorism and has sacrificed more than 80,000 lives in this war.
