The New York Eastern District US attorney Judge Gary R. Brown of Federal court in Central Islip sentenced to a Doctor Konstantinos Zarkadas of Long Island for four year prison and 3.5 million dollar fine.
He was accused of forging millions of dollars in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security, legislated from March 29, 2020, the Act provided emergency financial assistance during COVID-19 pandemic.
CARES is also a source of relief for US citizens and the issuance of unreturnable loans to small businesses for job retention and certain other expenses through the PPP (Paycheck Protection Program).
The doctor, Konstantinos Zarkadas obtained these funds through fraudulent means. Last year November 2021, Doctor pleads guilty to fraud over the PPP and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (EIDLP).
