Luke Ronchi Dashes Lahore Qalandars’ Hopes to Ground

DUBAI: Courtesy of Luke Ronchi’s brilliant batting, Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalandars in the 18th game of the HBL PSL 2018 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, UAE.

Earlier, Islamabad United skipper won the toss and opted to bowl first.

With Fakhar Zaman (32) and Devcich (62) gave Lahore Qalandars an impressive start.

But, after two wickets fell down, Qalandars feared another collapse.

Dinesh Ramdin (9) and Agha Salman (8) tried to play off the difficult phase of the inning. This hampered Qalandars’ run rate. With McCullum (33 from 12) firing down the order, Lahore Qalandars posted 163/7.

Islamabad United when came to bat, Luke Ronchi and JP Duminy set the tone early.

Duminy got out on 21 in the process, but Ronchi and Shadab Khan, who was surprisingly promoted up the order, added an 87-run partnership for the 2nd wicket.

The partnership made the game easy for United.

Shadab got out for his 32 followed by Ronchi (77), but Islamabad finally won it by 6 wickets and 14 balls in hand.
