Pakistan shoots down Indian drone along LoC

ISLAMABAD: An Indian spying drone which crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and entered into Pakistani airspace was shot down by Pakistan Army on Tuesday night.

According to Pakistan Army official statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan Army shot down Indian spy drone in Chirikot sector of Line of Control (LoC). It was the fourth drone Pak Army has shot down in the past one year for violating Pakistani space.

The ISPR statement also added that Pakistan Army has taken the debris of the Indian spy drone in its custody. It is believed that the downed drone would be analyzed by experts to ascertain its sensitive operations. The cameras of the drone are believed to be in working condition.

India is using drones frequently along the LoC for spying purposes and to sketch a map of Pakistani troop deployment, movement picture the installations in border areas.

In October last year too, an Indian spying drone across the Line of Control (LoC) was shot down by Pakistan Army. That drone was brought down in Rakhchikri sector of the LoC.

On November 19, 2016, another Indian drone was shot down by Pakistani troops at the Aagahi post area also in the Rakhchakri sector.

In another incident on July 15, 2015, an Indian spy drone, used for photography, was downed in the Bhimber area near the LoC after intruding into Pakistani territory. –VOSA Report
