India Keeping Close Eye on PM Abbasi’s Nepal Visit

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is on a two-day visit to Nepal, where he will congratulate newly-elect Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli.

There is no comment from India in this regard, but according to an Indian daily, LiveMint, people familiar with the development said the Indian government is keeping a wary eye on the visit.

Nepal’s new premier Oli is considered as pro-China and reportedly he is not at the best terms with India.

The LM reported India’s former foreign secretary Kanwal Sibal as saying that there was the danger of Nepal joining the Pakistan-China effort against India.
