German government rejects public pressure, lock down extended.

Some sectors conditionally allowed to open.

German government has extended the lock down until March 28, despite public pressure, but has also announced easing and reopening for some sectors.

Germany has been griped in a severe lock down since November to deal with Pandemic COVID-19, long imposed lock down causes public frustration, and pressure was mounting on the government to ease the lock down, despite public opinion polls.

However, the German government has decided not to take any risks despite public pressure, and has extended the lock down until March 28.

After the meeting, the rules regarding meeting with friends or neighbors will be relaxed from Monday, March 8, and up to 5 people will be allowed to meet.

Children under the age of 14 will not be counted, and bookstores, garden centers and flower shops have been allowed to open from March 8, but they must ensure a distance of at least 10 meters from their customers.

The meeting also decided to strengthen the vaccination campaign. Vaccines will be given to the staff of schools and day care centers immediately.
