The UK has crossed the milestone of providing 15 million doses of vaccine to its citizens, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has welcomed. The United Kingdom was the first country in the world to approve a vaccine for its citizens and to start vaccinating in early December.
The campaign aimed to provide vaccines to four priority groups, including the elderly and senior citizens and medical staff living in care homes and old homes.
In a statement, Prime Minister, Boris Johnson thanked all those involved in the campaign.
The vaccine program is being hailed as a success by the government, while the UK has been hit hardest by the pandemic.
It is hoped that the strict lockdown regulations will be relaxed in the coming days. UK Premier, Boris Johnson is also expected to address the nation next week, announcing the opening of schools from March 8.
