The journey from vice-president to Barack Obama to President has not been an easy one for Joe Biden. The Democrat had to fight many odds to reinstate the faith of a better America in the minds of the citizens and his hard-work shall bear the fruit today when he takes oath as the 46th President of the United States at 10:30 pm (IST).

The ceremony has begun in Washington, DC outside Capitol Hill, the same place where the riots took place two weeks ago. Security in the US capital has been beefed up in light of the imminent threat from extremist forces.

The event will be attended by several A-listers, along with the usual pomp the traditional parade, attendance of former presidents and tributes to the US troops. Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, rock legend Bruce Springsteen and Garth Brooks are among those who will take part in the inauguration.

The 2020 Presidential elections were marred by controversies and personal attacks as the belligerent Republican campaign left no stone unturned to sabotage the polls when they saw the mood swing away from their camp to that of the Democrats.

Donald Trump’s controversial stay at the White House has finally come to an end, rather a humiliating one, after his supporters went on a rampage at Capitol Hill, which houses the US government, earlier this month.

The dastardly event led to his impeachment, making him the first sitting US President to get impeached twice. The last two weeks of his term were spent rather quietly after over two months of haggling with the election offices claiming that the Democrats “stole” the polls from the Republicans.
