Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has announced that the country will hold parliamentary and presidential elections.
According to media reports, a statement from the presidential office said that the parliamentary elections will be held on May 22 and the presidential election will be held on July 31. Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party controls the West Bank and Gaza is a stronghold of Hamas, both parties have expressed interest in elections.
