Pak Navy Vital for Maritime Peace, Says French Ambassador

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbassi met the French Ambassador to Pakistan, Mark Barety at Naval Headquarters here today.

A Pakistan Navy statement informed that both dignitaries exchanged views on maritime situation and issues of mutual interest.

Chief of Pakistan Navy enlightened the ambassador regarding Pakistan’s efforts for establishing maritime peace, the statement added.

French Ambassador to Pakistan appreciated the role of Pakistan Navy to ensure maritime security in the region.

It is pertinent to mention here that last month a Pakistan-France friendship group was convened to cement bilateral ties between the two countries.

A four-member parliamentary friendship delegation led by the Convener of the friendship group and Chairman Standing Committee on Defense Production Senator Lt Gen ( R ) Abdul Qayyum made a three-day official visit to France from Jan 16 to 18.

The delegation was invited by the President of the friendship group in French Senate Senator Pascal Allizard.
