KABUL: Iran has increased its electricity exports to the neighbouring country Afghanistan, media reports say.
This was revealed by Iran’s Director for Taibud Electric Office Ehsan Siyahzadeh in a report by IRNA.
IRNA quoted Siyahzadeh saying on Sunday that 190,000 kilowatts /hour of electricity is exported to Afghanistan daily.
He said that since the beginning of the current Iranian year more than 48,000 megawatts of electricity had been exported to Afghanistan through Dogharoun distribution post, it said.
This amount is supplying needed electricity to Afghanistan villages close to Dogharoun border, including 13,000 households, according to the report.
Taibud city is located 225-kilometre southeasts of Mashad, Khorasan Razavi province, and is bordering Afghanistan.
